It’s that time of year again when everyone is jumping on the bandwagon and setting their resolutions for 2008. Remember that “resolutions” is just another word for goals. Here are a few tips that will help you keep your resolutions,
- Hold off making any new resolutions until Feburary
- I think that quite a few people just get all caught up in the tradition and tend to make unrealistic goals that they really never intend on keeping anyways. This just adds more stress to our lives, so why not wait and make sure that its really something that you want before making it a resolution.
- Use the SMART principle while coming up with your resolutions
- I talked about the SMART principle earlier, and I feel that it’s one of the most effective methods of creating realistics goals. Use it while developing your 2008 resolutions.
- Make sure that your resolutions fit into your long-term plan
- Do consider something a resolution if it doesn’t fit into your long-term plan. You’re more likely to actually stick to something if it’s important to you. After coming up with your list of resolutions make sure that they fit into your long-term plan. If they don’t get rid of them.
Best wishes for 2008, now get out there and get going!
